What About Bob? Finding Solutions in a World Full of Experts

What About Bob?

I’m going to date myself with this movie reference—do you remember What About Bob? The film starts with a man who believes he has all the answers. He works with a patient who has been told to read his book to learn how to master life, just as he supposedly has. But by the end, the roles flip: the expert becomes the student, and the patient becomes the teacher.

If that sounds like a story from the early 1990s, or maybe a classic you just discovered on Netflix, you might be wondering,

“Okay, thanks, LB, but what does this have to do with me?”

The answer is, it’s about the noisy world we live in today, where everyone seems to be an expert. Sometimes, I find myself overwhelmed or even a little nauseated by it all. There’s so much opinion, advice, and commentary that it’s easy to get lost in the swirl of noise.

That’s why I find myself thinking about What About Bob? It reminds me that the true value isn’t in being the loudest or the most certain voice; it’s in being open, humble, and ready to learn—as well as to help.

Be a Solution

One of my core values, a gift from a former teammate, Jennifer James, is to be a solution in the chaos—not just another source of noise.

Recently, you may have noticed I’ve shifted from making videos back to writing blogs. Why? Because I realized that in video, I was sometimes adding to the noise rather than cutting through it. Writing allows me to slow down, think clearly, and share ideas that are intentional and solution-focused.

I’m not hiding behind AI, though it does an impressive job of polishing and clarifying my words. The voice, the ideas, and the purpose come from me.

My goal is to bring meaningful, actionable thoughts to the table that offer real value.

In a world full of noise, I want to invite you to pause and reflect: Are you adding to the chaos, or are you stepping forward to be part of the solution?
